A bit about Voyageur Canoes
A voyageur canoe trip is like stepping back into history. In the early days groups of French Canadian paddlers and fur traders plied northern US and Canadian lakes and rivers in search of beaver and other pelts. These freighters of the 18th century carried 4 to 12 paddlers each, all sitting facing forward. Some boats traveled as much as 60 or 80 miles per day. Don't worry, on your trip we won't trap any small mammals or paddle 80 miles but you will get a sense of the teamwork and excitement from paddling the big canoes of yesteryear.
